JOB
The Part-time PlayGuard is responsible for providing active supervision of the Play World indoor playground at the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children and their families. This position serves as a visible staff presence focused on participant safety, risk prevention, and customer service by maintaining appropriate supervision ratios, monitoring play activities, enforcing facility rules, and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:

Maintains a consistent and engaged presence within Play World to actively supervise children, always ensuring safety and maintaining required staff-to-participant ratios and children are within line-of-sight according to facility zones of supervision.

Ensures proper participant check-in and pick-up procedures are followed, maintaining accountabilities for all children within the facility.

Maintains a working knowledge of Play World and departmental safety protocols and actively prevents, addresses and corrects unsafe behavior to reduce risk and prevent injury.

Conducts daily inspections of playground equipment, including walk-through and crawl-though reviews of play structure, identifying and addressing potential hazards.

Preforms routine cleaning and sanitizing of play areas, equipment, and surfaces throughout each shift, including completion of opening and closing duties and assigned checklists.

Engage with children, parents, and guests in a professional, friendly, and approachable manner to create a positive and welcoming experience.

Preforms janitorial duties include cleaning and restocking restrooms, vacuuming and mopping floors, removing trash and debris, and organizing toys, supplies, and program materials.

Assists with room setups, program activities, birthday parties and rentals, and special events to ensure spaces are safe, organized, and prepared for use.

Performs Building Services and other operational roles assigned to support overall facility needs.

Provides support for recreational programs, events, and activities to enhance participant engagement and community experience.

May be assigned to Splash Island, camp programs, or related guest services roles as needed.

Performs additional duties or special projects as assigned to support departmental goals and operational efficiency.

The ability to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, and other office equipment is required.

Must be able to complete and maintain CPR/First Aid certifications

The ability to operate a vacuum, minor power tools and related equipment.

The ability to speak, read and write in English is required. Spanish is desired.

The employee occasionally is exposed to work in high, precarious places; extreme cold (non-weather); and the risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
While the RAC is generally open from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, this position may require work beyond these hours and on holidays.
