Job Summary
We are looking for A Spray Technician in the Clay, Duval and St. Johns County areas. The technician is responsible for mixing, handling, and applying chemical solutions to control weeds, pests, and plant diseases while promoting healthy plant growth. This role requires attention to safety, proper chemical usage, and knowledge of environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Mix and apply herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and fertilizers according to label instructions
- Operate spray equipment (backpack sprayers, truck-mounted rigs, etc.)
- Monitor lawns, crops, or landscapes for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies
- Maintain accurate records of chemical applications and usage
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
- Calibrate and maintain spraying equipment
- Communicate with supervisors or clients about treatment plans and results
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (some roles prefer additional training in agriculture or horticulture)
- Valid driver’s license (often required)
- Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one
- Knowledge of chemical handling and safety practices
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills
- Physical ability to lift equipment and stand/walk for extended periods
Preferred Skills
- 2-3 Years experience in landscaping, turf management, or agriculture
- Familiarity with plant identification and pest control methods
- Mechanical skills for equipment maintenance
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoors (lawns, farms, golf courses, nurseries, or commercial properties)
- Exposure to chemicals (with safety precautions)
- May involve early mornings, seasonal work, or overtime during peak seasons
