Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custom Automotive & Marine Upholsterer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, repairing, and customizing upholstery for a variety of vehicles and boats, ensuring each project meets precise specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprint/specifications and/or technical drawings to craft custom upholstery for automotive and marine applications.
- Reupholster/Repair vehicle and boat interiors using upholstery techniques, ensuring seamless finishes and durability.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, sewing machines, and other equipment to complete job efficiently.
- Recommend and select appropriate fabric materials such as leather, textiles, or specialized marine fabrics to match project requirements.
- Perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of materials and components safely and efficiently.
- Apply woodworking skills when constructing or modifying frames, panels, or other structural elements as needed for custom projects.
- Use manual cutting techniques to prepare fabric pieces with precision before assembly.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety standards at all times.
Skills
- Attention to detail with a keen eye for precision in craftsmanship and finishing touches.
- Proficiency in upholstery techniques including reupholstering, sewing, fitting new covers, and repair work.
- Experience operating hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and sewing machines effectively.
- Knowledge of leather and fabric materials suitable for automotive and marine environments.
- Strong manual handling skills for heavy lifting and material manipulation safely.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes within the auto restoration or marine industries is advantageous.
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting while maintaining high-quality standards.
