Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Coaxial Cable Splicer to join our telecommunications team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, splicing, and maintaining coaxial cables and fiber optic systems that form the backbone of our network infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure reliable connectivity for residential, commercial, and industrial clients by performing precise cable splicing, troubleshooting network issues, and supporting outside plant operations. Responsibilities
- Install, splice, and repair coaxial cables and fiber optic systems in outdoor and indoor settings, adhering to safety standards.
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas during installation or maintenance tasks.
- Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to identify faults, verify signal integrity, and troubleshoot network issues efficiently.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and construction plans to accurately execute cable routing and splicing procedures.
- Perform telecommunications outside plant operations including cable pulling, trenching, and conduit installation in compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Conduct telecommunications network testing to ensure optimal performance of fiber optic networks, LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and telephony systems.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including splicing logs, inspection reports, and asset documentation for ongoing network management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in field service roles involving telecommunications cable splicing, fiber optic systems installation, and outdoor work environments.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, power tools, and hand tools safely while following all safety protocols.
- Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques, telecommunications testing equipment, schematics interpretation, and engineering troubleshooting methods.
- Familiarity with low voltage wiring practices including LAN Ethernet cabling, telephony wiring, and power distribution.
- Experience with telecommunications outside plant operations such as cable pulling, trenching, climbing poles or structures safely.
- Technical proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and schematics related to network infrastructure projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to support technical troubleshooting efforts effectively.
- Outdoor work experience with a focus on safety compliance under the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Construction experience or engineering background preferred; valid driver’s license required for equipment operation.
