Position Summary
RT Materials is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable & Accounting Associate to join our team. This position is responsible for managing the company's accounts receivable process while providing accounting support to ensure the accuracy of financial records and inventory transactions.
The Accounts Receivable & Accounting Associate will submit customer invoices, monitor outstanding accounts, assist with collections, enter vendor receivers, record vendor costs, and support the accounting department with daily accounting functions. The ideal candidate is dependable, accurate, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction supply environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable
- Review and submit accurate customer invoices, including progress billings, retention invoices, change orders, and credit memos.
- Post customer payments and accurately apply checks, ACH payments, and wire transfers to customer accounts.
- Generate customer statements and reconcile customer accounts.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on outstanding invoices by phone and email.
- Research and resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues.
- Coordinate with customers, sales representatives, and management regarding collection efforts.
- Prepare lien waivers, sworn statements, W-9s, invoice copies, proof of delivery, and other documentation required to obtain payment.
- Maintain accurate customer account records.
Accounting Support
- Enter vendor receivers into the accounting system accurately and timely.
- Enter vendor costs and material costs into the accounting system to ensure accurate inventory valuation and job costing.
- Verify purchase orders, receiving documents, and vendor invoices for accuracy.
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end accounting procedures and account reconciliations.
- Support with additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of Accounts Receivable or Accounting experience required.
- Construction industry, building materials, or distribution experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with progress billings, retention, and lien waivers is preferred.
- Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar ERP systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent work experience will also be considered.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
