The ideal candidate is passionate about literature and writing instruction and is committed to delivering a rigorous, content-rich curriculum in a structured classroom setting.Instruction is aligned with the Core Knowledge and Great Books programs.
At the high school level, there may be opportunities to teach within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework.Key Responsibilities: Implement the Grades 712 English curriculum, including the Great Books literature program and, where applicable, IB courseworkTeach up to five classes daily in alignment with established curriculum and instructional expectationsDeliver engaging, well-structured lessons with clear, measurable learning objectivesAssess student progress regularly and provide timely, actionable feedback, including progress reports and report cardsAdminister standardized assessments as directed by the English Department Chair and school leadershipCollaborate weekly with the English Department to align curriculum, analyze data, and refine instructional practicesMaintain a structured and positive classroom environment using the schools discipline modelParticipate in staff meetings and ongoing professional developmentPerform additional duties as assigned by the English Department Chair or Assistant directorQualifications: Bachelors degree in English requiredStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordinglyDemonstrated ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleaguesStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectivelyCollaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to a team-oriented environmentDeep content knowledge in English language arts and literatureAbility to plan and deliver instruction aligned with school and curricular goalsExperience evaluating student performance and writing clear, data-informed reportsSuccessful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employmentAdditional InformationThis position reports to the English Department ChairThis is an annual appointment, evaluated on a yearly basisMVRCS complies with all applicable state and federal laws and school policiesEqual Opportunity EmployerMystic Valley Regional Charter School is an equal opportunity employer.
