Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Support residents during meal preparation and eating, ensuring nutritional needs are met while promoting independence.
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to foster socialization and enhance quality of life.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control standards.
- Document all care activities thoroughly in accordance with agency policies and ensure clear communication with team members regarding each resident’s progress or concerns.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to provide patient personal care assistance with compassion and professionalism.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, autism support, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities enhances your ability to deliver specialized support effectively.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and teamwork are essential for success in this role.
