Job Description
Stem Construction LLC is a quality-driven General Contractor based in El Paso, TX, working closely with Root Architects, a boutique architecture firm specializing in Medical, Commercial, and Hospitality design. We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our growing team and oversee multiple current and upcoming design-build projects. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, administratively strong, and experienced in residential and multi-family construction. Must be willing to commute to projects throughout the El Paso area and Far West Texas region.
Essential Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead construction projects independently through all phases: pre-design, planning, bidding, budgeting, scheduling, mobilization, construction, and closeout.
- Manage relationships with superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, owners, and design teams to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Cost Estimation & Budgeting
- Maintain and grow subcontractor relationships to support current and future projects.
- Support pre-construction efforts, including budgeting and bidding.
- Prepare takeoffs, cost estimates, and client proposals in coordination with estimators and subcontractors.
- Monitor contract financials, assist with forecasting and purchasing, and collaborate with the CFO on bookkeeping.
- Negotiate and document cost-effective subcontracts and material buys.
Communication & Documentation
- Represent Stem Construction in meetings and contribute to strategic planning and negotiations.
- Document meeting minutes and maintain project task logs.
- Conduct regular site visits to track progress and report key findings.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and internal teams.
Scheduling
- Track and update project schedules regularly.
- Coordinate material deliveries and subcontractor work within the master project schedule.
- Ensure construction activities stay on schedule and align with budget and quality standards.
Quality Control & Safety
- Proactively manage quality and identify issues early through inspections and field observation.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and maintain proper documentation.
- Oversee project safety, including conducting audits and managing closeout and warranty phases.
- Resolve conflicts or design inconsistencies proactively.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent field experience.
- 5–8 years of commercial construction management experience, including supervisory roles in ground-up, TI, or renovation projects.
- Experience in Multi-Family or Restaurant construction (preferred).
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
- Proficient in Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6.
- Capable of generating detailed reports and managing project documentation.
- Familiarity with digital plan rooms, BIM, and laser scanning technologies (preferred).
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Understanding of construction processes, standards, and project management systems.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification (preferred).
