Our Hospital is looking for a dedicated and highly skilled Doctor Assistant (DA) to support our Criticalist in delivering exceptional care to our patients. This is a unique opportunity to work closely alongside a top-tier veterinary professional in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, proactive, and detail-oriented with the ability to anticipate needs and ensure seamless daily operations.
Responsibilities:
- Shadow the Criticalist's work schedule and help with patient cases, ensuring timely follow-up, and communicating important details the team.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing memos, coordinating care plans, and maintaining patient records.
- Ensure efficient workflow, manage time-sensitive tasks, and act as a point of contact between the Criticalist and other team members.
- Support the team by maintaining a positive and collaborative environment that prioritizes patient well-being and exceptional client service.
- Provide timely client communication and education regarding the status of their pet.
- Obtain initial patient histories from the clients, call previous primary veterinarians for medical records.
- Ensure diagnostics and treatments are being started in a timely manner
- Obtain and send medical records.
- Upload x rays.
- Complete lab submission forms.
- Manage daily tasks (lab & radiology report, call backs/updates for your assigned doctor's cases, enter charges, obtaining records, etc.)
- Review discharge instructions with clients.
- Create and process prescription refills, to go home with clients.
- Perform client/patient follow-up phone calls.
- Send and receive emails/text messages and communicate with clients via phone calls.
- Ensure patients are clean and comfortable.
- Communicate and collaborate in a cohesive team environment.
- Utilize Cornerstone, Pet Health Network Pro and Smart Flow Software and ezyVet.
- Obtain a California Controlled Drug Permit and be able to request drugs from the Cubex unit.
- Work in a very high volume, fast paced environment.
- Able to function within a busy, stressful work environment in a mature, professional manner.
- Act as a service coordinator.
- Other duties as assigned.
