Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Safety Trainer with a strong background in MSHA Part 46 training to develop, deliver, and maintain effective safety training programs for mining operations. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and equipping employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to work safely in mining environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver MSHA Part 46 training programs, including:
- New Miner Training
- Newly Hired Experienced Miner Training
- Annual Refresher Training
- Task Training
- Develop and update training materials to ensure compliance with MSHA regulations (30 CFR Part 46)
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation in accordance with MSHA requirements
- Conduct site-specific hazard awareness training for contractors and visitors
- Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust programs to improve outcomes
- Stay current with changes in MSHA regulations and industry best practices
- Collaborate with site leadership to identify training needs and safety gaps
- Support incident investigations and incorporate lessons learned into training
- Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement and coaching
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of safety training experience in mining, construction, or heavy industry
- Demonstrated experience delivering MSHA Part 46 training (required)
- Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience developing training programs and instructional materials
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to engage diverse audiences and adapt training styles accordingly
- Proficient in recordkeeping and compliance documentation
Mandatory Qualifications
- MSHA-approved Part 46 Instructor status
- Experience with Part 48 training (underground or surface)
- Ability to work independently and manage schedules
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30-hour certification (General Industry or Construction)
- First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to access active mine sites and industrial environments
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Willingness to wear required PPE
Pay & Benefits
Pay is based on experience and qualifications. Benefits available for full-time positions.
