Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of clients including high net worth individuals, trusts and estates, pass-through entities, corporations, nonprofits, and real estate and construction businesses. The Tax Manager will oversee tax engagements, mentor staff, drive technical excellence in tax research and planning, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage compliance, reporting, and client relationships. This role requires strong technical expertise across individual and business tax returns, SALT, international tax, tax provision (ASC 740), and advanced use of tax technology and data tools.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and review tax compliance and planning engagements for individuals, high net worth individuals (HNW/HNWI), trusts and estates, S corporations (1040/1120S), C corporations (1120), partnerships (1065), fiduciary returns (1041), gift (709) and estate (706) tax filings.

Prepare, review and sign off on complex individual (1040), corporate (1120/1120S), partnership (1065), trust and estate (1041/706/709) and other federal, state and local filings; ensure accuracy and timely delivery.

Provide tax planning and structuring advice for pass-through entities, partnerships, real estate investments, construction projects, professional services firms and family offices; perform nexus and apportionment studies.

Lead tax provision (ASC 740) calculations and coordinate tax compliance & reporting for quarter and year-end close; liaise with accounting teams on GAAP/IFRS tax accounting and ERP integrations (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

Oversee international tax matters including transfer pricing, BEPS/OECD guideline and treaty analysis, FATCA/CRS/FBAR compliance, VAT/GST and cross-border planning considerations.

Support M&A tax due diligence, transaction structuring, and post-close tax integration and planning; evaluate tax risks and opportunities.

Manage tax controversy and audit support, respond to notices, and represent clients in negotiations with tax authorities.

Supervise, mentor and develop senior tax staff and supervisors; review workpapers, tax research and client deliverables to ensure quality control and technical accuracy.

Drive use of tax technology and data analytics: lead implementation and use of tax software (ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax), ERP systems, and tools like Advanced Excel & VBA, Alteryx/Power Query and SQL to improve efficiency.

Identify and pursue business development opportunities; contribute to client proposals, service offerings and thought leadership on tax technical topics.
Qualifications

CPA required; JD or LLM or Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred; Masters in Tax or equivalent a plus.

7+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, corporate tax or professional services, with a demonstrated track record as a Senior Tax Manager or Tax Supervisor.

Deep technical knowledge of individual and business taxation: Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, 709, 1041, 706 and related schedules and elections.

Extensive experience with trusts and estates, high net worth individual (HNW/HNWI) planning and fiduciary taxation.

Proven expertise in pass-through entities, partnership tax, S-corp and C-corp planning and compliance.

Experience with State & Local Tax (SALT) issues, nexus/apportionment, payroll & withholding tax and indirect taxes (Sales & Use, VAT/GST).

Familiarity with international tax concepts including transfer pricing, BEPS/OECD guidelines, treaty analysis and cross-border compliance (FATCA/CRS/FBAR).

Hands-on experience with tax provision (ASC 740), tax accounting, and financial reporting coordination under GAAP/IFRS.

Proficiency with tax software and systems: ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax, Oracle and common ERP integrations; strong Advanced Excel & VBA skills; familiarity with Alteryx/Power Query and SQL.

Strong tax research, analytical, problem solving and project management skills; comfort conducting and presenting technical tax research.

Excellent client-facing skills with experience serving HNW clients, family offices, business owners and nonprofit organizations.

Demonstrated leadership and staff development capabilities; able to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills, professional demeanor, and commitment to quality and compliance.
