Responsibilities
- Assist with the cataloging, documentation, and database management of artworks and artifacts using specialized collection management software.
- Support the care, handling, and storage of museum objects in accordance with curatorial standards.
- Help coordinate gallery exhibitions, including installation, deinstallation, and signage setup.
- Manage inventory records meticulously, ensuring accurate tracking of all items within the collection.
- Contribute to public programs by supporting educational activities for children and community groups.
- Conduct research on collection items to enhance interpretive materials and support grant proposals.
- Provide excellent customer service to visitors, guiding tours, answering questions, and fostering an inclusive environment.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for cataloging and database management.
- Experience working with children in educational or museum settings is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for report writing and presentations.
- Knowledge of historical research methods and museum object care practices.
- Excellent communication skills for public speaking, teaching, and team collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy under deadlines.
- Familiarity with fundraising strategies, social media management, grant proposal writing, and budgeting is a plus.
- Experience working in nonprofit arts or cultural organizations enhances understanding of mission-driven work.
