Duties
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients following established recipes and safety standards
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, mixers, and other small appliances
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment to ensure compliance with food safety regulations
- Support the culinary team in meal assembly and plating to ensure timely service
- Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure freshness
- Contribute to menu planning by preparing ingredients according to specifications
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff by communicating clearly about prep needs and progress
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dietary departments, dietary aide roles, or food service environments preferred
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment and knife skills including slicing techniques
- Experience with food preparation, meal assembly, and recipe adherence
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen environment
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Basic understanding of the food industry or restaurant experience is advantageous
