About Suvie
Suvie is a food tech startup revolutionizing home cooking. We combine advanced kitchen appliances with premium meal kits to automate dinner for people who love great food but don't always have time to cook. With multiple appliances on the market and a growing base of loyal customers, we're scaling our meal kit operation — and we're looking for a detail-oriented, hands-on Quality Control Specialist to help make sure every kit that leaves our facility is accurate, safe, and ready for our customers' tables.
The Role
As our Quality Control Specialist, you'll work on the production floor every day to catch problems before they leave the building — wrong ingredients, missing components, temperature issues, or packaging mistakes. You'll report to and support our Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist, helping execute the quality and food safety programs they own. This is an entry-level, individual contributor role — a great starting point for someone who wants to build a career in food safety and quality assurance within a fast-growing food tech company.
You'll spend most of your day on the production floor and in the freezer/inventory area, so this role suits someone who likes being hands-on, is comfortable in a cold environment, and takes pride in catching the small details that matter.
What You'll Do
Kitting & Production Monitoring
- Monitor kitting lines throughout production to verify that the correct ingredients, in the correct quantities, are going into each meal kit.
- Perform in-process spot checks against build sheets/recipes and flag discrepancies immediately to the line and to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist.
- Check that kit labeling, packaging, and presentation meet our quality standards before kits move downstream.
Packout & Shipping Checks
- On packout days, conduct random quality checks on finished orders to confirm customers are receiving the correct products.
- Verify that each box has the proper amount of dry ice and is packed to maintain cold chain integrity during transit.
- Check outbound packaging for correct labeling, completeness, and overall presentation before it ships.
- Document and report any errors, shorts, or packout issues so they can be corrected and trended over time.
Receiving & Inventory Support
- Work closely with the freezer/inventory team to assist with receiving incoming product.
- Check temperatures on incoming deliveries to confirm products arrive within required cold chain ranges.
- Identify and flag expiring or near-expiration product so it can be prioritized or pulled per procedure.
- Monitor and record temperatures of components while they're being kitted to ensure cold chain is maintained through production.
Documentation & Support
- Keep accurate, timely records of quality checks, temperature logs, and any issues found.
- Assist the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist with day-to-day tasks related to food safety and quality programs as needed.
- Communicate quality or food safety concerns promptly so they can be addressed before product ships.
- Follow all food safety, allergen control, and sanitation procedures, and support a clean, organized production environment.
What We're Looking For
Experience
- Prior experience in a food production, warehouse, or quality-related role is a plus, but not required — we're happy to train the right person.
- Comfortable working in a cold/frozen warehouse environment.
Skills & Attributes
- Detail-oriented — you notice when something looks off and you're comfortable speaking up about it.
- Reliable and consistent; comfortable following documented procedures and checklists.
- Good basic communication skills — you'll need to flag issues clearly to production staff and to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist.
- Comfortable using a tablet/scanner and basic recordkeeping tools; general comfort with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace is a plus.
- Able to work independently on routine checks while knowing when to escalate.
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- No food safety certification required to start; willingness to complete basic food safety/allergen training provided on the job.
Work Environment
- This role is based onsite at our Indianapolis kitting facility, primarily on the production floor and in the freezer/refrigerated warehouse.
- Requires the ability to work in cold environments for extended periods.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs and standing/walking on concrete for extended periods (4+ hours).
- Occasional bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Packout days may require additional focus/time on the floor to complete random quality checks.
Why Suvie?
You'll be part of the team that makes sure every kit going out the door is right — and you'll learn food safety and quality assurance from the ground up alongside our Food Safety Specialist. It's a great entry point into food manufacturing quality, with real room to grow as our operation scales.
