Duties
- Provide direct personal care assistance to residents or clients, including help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as eating, toileting, and transferring using manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe for changes in condition, and document patient responses accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal presentation to promote proper nutrition.
- Support medication administration following prescribed care plans and ensure proper documentation of all medication-related activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Assist with patient monitoring during activities such as hospice care or dementia/memory care to ensure safety and well-being.
- Support residents’ participation in community outings or personal transportation needs while ensuring safety and comfort.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members to coordinate care plans and address individual needs promptly.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to observe patients carefully and respond appropriately to changes in condition or behavior.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including medication administration, vital signs measurement, CPR/First Aid certification, and manual handling skills such as Hoyer lifts.
- Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care practices, autism support, intellectual disabilities support, neurodevelopmental disorders, and developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or senior populations is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with patient transfers using appropriate methods.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within a caregiving environment.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and respecting client confidentiality at all times.
