Overview
This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
This mechanic installs, removes, inspects, tests, maintains and repairs systems components, and ancillary equipment of installed aircraft communications/navigation/electrical systems to include deceptive electronic countermeasures (DECM) systems at the OMA level. Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from a supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft-relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support scheduled inspections at intervals specified by applicable Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRC).
- Provide Aircraft Emergency Reclamation and Salvage services per governing directives.
- Check aircraft for tools and other foreign objects that could potentially put the aircraft or aircrew at risk.
- Review and ensure all documentation, such as work guides and checklists, is accurate and completed prior to issuing to crews or individuals.
- Inventory and maintain tools and properly handle hazardous materials/waste per activity's Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and local governing directives.
- Perform preventative maintenance on assigned T/M/S aircraft and Environmental Control systems assigned to the activity IAW required T/M/S MRCs and approved directives.
- Examine, inspect, investigate, repair, and provide recommendations to the local Maintenance Control and/or government agency as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; aviation maintenance training
- Possess the ability to work independently, without technical guidance.
- Perform all tasks outlined in the IETM and demonstrate the technical proficiency to qualify as a CDI.
- Minimum four (4) years of aircraft maintenance experience working on CH-53 E/K, UH-1Y/AH-1Z, MV-22.
- Must be able to move about an aircraft maintenance environment safely.
- Must be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
· Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.
· May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
· Work may be performed on top of or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions.
- Must be able to sit, stand, squat, walk, and talk for extended periods during shift.
- Must have the mobility to climb stairs and ladders.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain base access.
