American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-acuity Level II Trauma center, requiring TNCC and at least 2 years of critical care experience.

Work in a 71-bed Emergency Department functioning at a Level I capacity while designated as a Level II Trauma center
-
Patient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric cases
-
Patient ratios: 1:4 (ER), 1:5 (MS holds), 1:3 (ICU holds)

CNA support at a 1:12 ratio, with a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy (until 0300), IV/VAT team, and hospitalist available on the unit
-
EMR: Cerner; IV pumps: Plum 360; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Spacelabs
-
12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM start), 36 hours per week with potential for 48
-
Available shift times: 7a–7p, 7p–7a, 11a–11p, 3p–3a on a 4-week schedule cycle

Weekend rotation required: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month on a block schedule

No floating required

No on-call requirements

Active AL or Compact RN license required

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JCAHO accepted)

Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (ICU, ER, or MS hold) with the most recent year in a Level II or higher ER
-
Level II Trauma or higher experience required

Cerner or Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers; preferred for experienced travelers

Proficiency with: trach care, vent care, ICU drip management, chest tubes, art lines, CVL, PICC, midline, port, Foley catheter, splint/ortho device application, BiPAP/high-flow oxygen, and continuous bladder irrigation

1 professional reference from a charge nurse or above from the past 12 months required for consideration

DOB (day and month) and full SSN required for consideration

Copy of all certifications required for consideration

Provide emergency nursing care to a high-acuity patient population across trauma, medical, and specialty case types
-
First-time travelers are welcome with at least 2 years of experience, Cerner or Epic proficiency, and Level II Trauma or higher background
-
New-to-facility travelers and return travelers absent for 1 or more years will complete 24 hours of classroom orientation plus 24 hours of on-unit orientation; rehire orientation varies based on last date worked

Holiday coverage is required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy; specific dates are not contractually guaranteed off prior to arrival

Facility-specific blackout dates apply and change yearly — candidates should be aware of RTO restrictions around major holidays and select weekends throughout the year

Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved, excluding blackout dates
