POSITION OVERVIEW
PERSONAL FINANCIAL COUNSELOR recruiting for a full-time temping position
The Personal Financial Counselor (PFC) provides comprehensive personal financial services to military service members and their families at designated military installations. This role involves direct counseling, education, and resource referral services to help military families navigate the full spectrum of personal financial management. The PFC works in collaboration with military leadership and installation points of contact (POCs) to ensure services align with the unique needs of the military community and adhere to program scope.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide individual financial counseling and management services to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in developing spending plans for deployment or extended absences.
- Deliver educational workshops and briefings on financial topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, deployment cycles, transition planning).
- Develop and distribute financial education materials tailored to service member needs.
- Coordinate and publicize Personal Financial Management (PFM) workshops and classes in accordance with DoDI 1322.34.
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate financial education and seminars.
- Utilize virtual platforms (e.g., secure chat, video conferencing) when authorized to provide counseling services remotely.
- Manage duty-to-warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) protocols.
- Participate in individual and group supervision, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain communication with leadership and report on installation trends and needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of financial counseling experience required.
- Prior experience with military populations preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
- BACHELOR'S DEGREE
- ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE +4 yrs. relevant experience, OR
- HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA +6 yrs. relevant experience.
CERTIFICATIONS (*One of the following is required.)
- Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, if required by contract.
- Must hold a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 background investigation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- On-site at military installations with potential for virtual delivery of services as approved.
- Regular interaction with military personnel, leadership, and family support programs.
