Position Description
The Network VOIP Intern will support the Texas Department of Transportation's statewide Phone Modernization Initiative. This role will work closely with Network, Telecom, Inventory, and Field Support teams to assist with the planning, coordination, tracking, and execution of efforts to streamline desk phones across the agency. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting a large-scale technology modernization project while learning about enterprise telecommunications, IT asset management, data analysis, customer engagement, and technology operations.
Essential Duties:- Review and update phone cutsheets to ensure inventory records accurately reflect current business needs and approved phone assignments.
- Partner with site contacts and business representatives to gather information, track responses, and support decision-making related to phone retention and removal activities.
- Support project planning, status tracking, reporting, and coordination activities to help ensure successful execution of the statewide phone reduction initiative.
- Assist with tracking recovered devices, updating inventory records, and supporting asset accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor phone-related service requests and work activities, ensuring information is documented, tracked, and communicated to project stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.
Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school.
Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
