Brayton Energy is a developer of innovative high temperature compact heat exchangers for advanced-cycle gas turbine engines, and thermal energy systems, including thermal and thermo-chemical energy storage.
We are seeking a highly skilled Heat Exchanger Technician to support fabrication, testing, and production of prototype and pilot production heat exchangers. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who enjoys the challenge and satisfaction of an R&D environment, who is highly attentive to quality, accuracy, and documentation.
Responsibilities:

Execute mechanical fabrication tasks across a range of stainless steels and nickel alloys, and processes including preparation of details for assembly tack welding, fixturing assemblies for vacuum nickel brazing, hydrostatic pressure testing and leak testing.
- Support manufacturing operations including QA checks, inspection steps, and adherence to documented processes.

Perform leak checks and verify system integrity using standard and specialized methods.

Identify assembly, instrumentation, and test issues, document findings thoroughly, and work with senior shop staff and engineering staff to troubleshoot and implement solutions.

Attend to long-term heat exchanger durability tests.
- Record detailed data, test setups, procedures, and results to support engineering and QA requirements.

Work closely with engineers and technicians to meet project schedules and technical objectives.
- Engineering Technology degree or equivalent technical training, relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in fabrication, testing, or related technical roles.
- Broad fabrication capabilities, a strong mechanical aptitude, and the curiosity to learn about the heat exchangers being fabricated and their use.
- Familiarity with QA and manufacturing workflows.
- Experience with test setups, instrumentation, troubleshooting, and hands-on problem solving.
- Proficiency in leak testing methods.
- Strong documentation skills, including accurate recordkeeping and clear communication of technical activities.
- Experience in aerospace, energy systems, or advanced R&D environments.
- Familiarity with heat exchangers, thermal-fluid systems, or complex assemblies.
- Comfort reading engineering drawings, specs, and test procedures.
