Position Overview
XOVR CNC Parts & Service is seeking a Press Brake Applications Engineer to lead installation, commissioning, and customer training on press brake systems across the United States.
This role is ideal for a hands-on, customer-facing engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment and wants to make a direct impact on customer productivity. Experience with press brakes, sheet metal bending, and forming applications is required. Experience with other CNC equipment is preferred. All candidates must live within one hour of a major U.S. airport.
Key Responsibilities
Applications & Technical Support
- Install, baseline, and commission new press brake systems at customer sites, including tooling setup, backgauge configuration, and machine calibration.
- Train new customers and operators on press brake operation, bend programming, tooling changeover, and safe operating procedures.
- Troubleshoot existing press brake systems and provide remote and on-site technical support.
- Develop and optimize bend sequences, tooling selection, and forming processes for customer applications.
- Collaborate with customers to improve machine utilization, cycle times, and part quality.
- Provide pre- and post-sales technical support on press brakes and related CNC machine tools.
Documentation & Reporting
- Perform data analysis to assess machine performance and forming accuracy.
- Document machine safety, maintenance, and operational reports accurately and thoroughly.
- Read and interpret layout, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams and schematics.
- Generate application reports, case studies, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, service, and sales teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Provide feedback for product improvements and customer pain points.
Safety & Rigging
- Verify press brake safety systems during installation and commissioning, including light curtains, two-hand controls, e-stops, and guarding, prior to customer handoff.
- Work alongside third-party rigging companies during machine installation; most heavy lifting and positioning is performed by the customer or customer-supplied riggers.
- Operate a smaller forklift as needed for tooling, parts, and light material handling on-site.
- Follow all applicable OSHA and site-specific safety protocols during installation and service work.
Mindset for Success
- Self-motivated solutions provider — keeps customers up and running and set up for success.
- Comfortable being the only technical person on-site and able to make sound judgment calls without waiting for HQ sign-off.
- Resourceful — creates an action plan to solve problems even when limited resources are available.
- Takes ownership of mistakes, communicates issues promptly, and learns from them.
