Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Home Care Aide to provide exceptional support and assistance to individuals in their homes or community settings. This vital role involves delivering personalized care that promotes independence, safety, and well-being. As a Home Care Aide, you will work closely with clients of diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring specialized memory or dementia care. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring comfort and dignity.
- Support patients with mobility and transfer methods using equipment like Hoyer lifts or patient transfer techniques to promote safety during movement.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Provide medication reminders and support medication administration under supervision or as trained, following care plans precisely.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning tasks and organization of living spaces.
- Offer companionship and emotional support, fostering positive communication and engagement tailored to each client's preferences.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or errands using personal transportation assistance methods when needed.
- Follow established care plans diligently, documenting observations and any incidents to ensure continuity of quality care.
- Support clients with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's or dementia care, memory care routines, or neurodevelopmental disorders with patience and understanding.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and basic first aid including CPR certification.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders is preferred.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting safely using proper techniques.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and personal care in a respectful manner.
- Valid certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as Hoyer lift operation or dementia care training are advantageous.
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts including evenings or weekends may be necessary.
