Job Summary
The Operations Specialist is an integral part of the Northern State Bank of Virginia team and is responsible for daily banking operations and the operational functions of the core banking system.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Process incoming and outgoing wire transfers according to bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
· Ensure timely processing of cash letters and daily ACH debits and credits
· Upload and verify file transfers to and from various sources
· Process overdrafts, stop payments, return items, and pay and file all on-us documents
· Review and resolve exception items including: producing reports and resolving non-posted items, researching errors, processing checks deposited/cashed/insufficient funds and/or closed accounts, and compiling reports and notices for mailing/filing
· Assist with preparation of audit and examination requested materials
· Manage and document Reg E disputes ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant entries and resolution
· Reconcile internal and general ledger accounts
· Review and accurately process RDC daily deposits
· Process subpoenas, levies, garnishments, court orders, state required family payment requests, and/or judgments
· Assist with fraud prevention and risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and soundness of bank and customer funds
· File Fed withholding payments for IRA accounts
· Manage death notice entries and ensure timely process of internal procedures of death notifications
· Manage escheatment process ensuring timely, accurate, and detailed reporting
· Ensure compliance with banking regulations and bank policies and procedures
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements and Qualifications
· High School Diploma required; associate’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
· Minimum of two years of bank operations experience and one year of other banking services
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
· High level of accuracy and timeliness
· Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
· Strong keyboarding, mathematical, proofreading, and data entry skills
· Excellent customer services skills
· Possess high level of confidentiality
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
