- Job Title: Automation Technician
- Type of Contract: Long-term At-Will
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, robotic, and automation systems to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
- Coordinate technical activities related to PLC hardware, software, ladder logic, and automation interfaces.
- Develop, modify, and optimize automation programs to improve operational performance and repeatability. Provide technical leadership and support to maintenance technicians in troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Train maintenance and operational personnel on automation systems, robotics, and PLC equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of PLC software revisions, robotic programs, documentation, and electrical schematics.
- Lead automation-related continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrades.
- Coordinate modifications and installation of new automation and robotic systems in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Evaluate emerging automation technologies and recommend solutions that improve productivity, reliability, and efficiency.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience working with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms, including PLC-500 and ControlLogix systems.
- Experience with HMI software such as RSLogix, Wonderware, and PanelView. Experience supporting industrial robotic systems, preferably Fanuc, ABB, and/or KUKA.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics.
- Experience with Siemens S5 and S7 PLC systems preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks including ControlNet, Modbus, and Profibus.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
- Strong PC proficiency and technical documentation skills.
- English proficiency sufficient to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
