Job Overview
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Construction Controller to take the wheel of our financial operations. In this role, you will oversee our accounting functions, manage reporting, ensure compliance, and guide our team to success. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in construction finance, accounting, and financial analysis to help drive our strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
Financial & WIP Reporting: Prepare accurate, timely monthly Work-In-Progress (WIP) schedules, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and month-end close reporting.
Job Costing: Oversee project accounting, cost allocations, and variance analysis for heavy civil, aggregate, and site development projects.
Heavy Equipment Accounting: Manage the financial lifecycle of the heavy equipment fleet, including internal charge rates, loan amortizations, depreciation, and prompt lien releases.
Cash Management & Treasury: Forecast 30/60/90-day cash flow requirements and maintain required financial documentation for banking lines of credit and surety/bonding limits.
Billing & Lien Management: Drive AIA-style progress billing, track retainage, and strictly manage vendor and subcontractor lien waivers to protect the firm.
Compliance & Payroll Oversight: Ensure strict adherence to Nevada prevailing wage laws, certified payroll requirements, workers' compensation audits, and state tax compliance.
Strategic Partnership: Collaborate directly with ownership to identify margin fade, control overhead, and scale financial systems to support targeted eight-figure revenue growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Extensive experience in financial management within civil construction or infrastructure projects; experience with governmental or non-profit sectors highly desirable.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar platforms; advanced Excel skills including data analysis and spreadsheet modeling required.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing accounting teams with a focus on process improvement and team development.
- Experience with financial concepts like cost accounting analysis, account reconciliation, balance sheet management, accounts payable/receivable processing.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data into clear reports; excellent skills in financial report writing and presentation.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
