The Medical Assistant supports patient care by performing administrative and clinical tasks to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow at the RiverValley Behavioral Health Children’s Hospital. This role provides direct support to nursing and medical staff, while assisting with patient documentation, vitals, scheduling and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Manage patient records, update medical histories and file necessary documentation.
Assist with examinations and clinical procedures under supervision.
Record and report vital signs, weights and other observations to nursing staff.
Maintain cleanliness, restock supplies and ensure a safe clinical environment.
Coordinate referrals and appointments with external providers as needed.
Assist with medication documentation and communication to pharmacy as directed.
Answer phones and communicate professionally with families, visitors and interdisciplinary staff.
Adhere to infection control procedures and PPE guidelines.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all privacy standards.
Participate in annual training, staff meetings and performance reviews.
Perform other duties as assigned.
