Job Title: Sr Application Engineer
Location: Wadsworth, OH (on-site)

Position Summary:
As a Sr Application Engineer at PT Tech, part of the Timken Company, you will develop and apply custom solutions for the aggregate, construction, marine, metal and steel, mining, wood waste recycling, and material processing industries. We are seeking a customer-facing engineer to perform product selections, create new design concepts, and lead customer technical discussions on new product development and on-going product support. On-site presence in Wadsworth, OH is required with the potential for flexible work arrangements. Periodic customer and supplier visits expected.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with customers, sales associates, design engineering, service manager, and other groups to understand and clearly define customer requirements to deliver product solutions which are reliable, cost effective, and capable of meeting or exceeding customers’ requirements.
- Perform application analysis, selection, and modification of existing products.
- Work with design engineering to establish product selection criteria, application guidelines, and appropriate factors of safety.
- Develop new design concepts, present options to customers for feedback, and either complete remaining product development or transition to design engineering.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose customer field issues, interfacing with service manager and directly with key customers.
- Resolve production or field issues with structured 8D problem solving techniques and implementation of robust engineering changes.
- Identify need for product improvements based on field experience and customer feedback.
- Create and present technical training material to customers and sales team.
- Follow all established safety practices.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with 3+ years of hands-on customer-facing engineering experience, MS in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with 2+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Experience interfacing with customers, sales, service, and other groups in the development of new products and support of existing products.
- Strong CAD skills (CREO preferred; SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar acceptable) and familiarity with PDM and PLM systems.
- Experience with tolerance stack-ups, fits, assembly techniques, and GD&T.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and across internal teams through written and verbal mediums.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
- On-site work in Wadsworth, OH required, with the potential for flexible work arrangements.
- Estimated travel to customers or suppliers may be required approximately once per month or less.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the selection and development of dry and wet friction clutches, brakes, fluid couplings, torque limiting couplings, torsional couplings, and gearboxes.
- Experience interfacing with embedded electrical control systems and hydraulics systems engineers for electric-over-hydraulic control systems.
- Proven track record of establishing application guidelines, design standards, training programs, and technical references.
- Advanced degree (MS) in mechanical engineering, or related technical field.
