TSU is looking to add a Safety Inspector with knowledge of underground electric/gas installations to our Safety Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of safety, safety training and previous underground utility construction experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Motivates a workforce of over 500 workers to practice safe operating procedures 100% of time in order to prevent accidents and injuries
- Investigates underground utility damage, personal injury, vehicle and property damage claims. Compiles data, takes photos, and prepares all pertinent forms and reports per established safety procedures and regulations to achieve reduced incident rates and costs
- Conducts jobsite safety audits to ensure compliance with Company safety programs, policies and procedures as well as client specific operating procedures and OSHA standards
- Documents audit results. Identifies and recommends solutions to hazardous conditions. Follows through to ensure 100% compliance and conformance
- Responds to emergency situations and conducts post-accident root cause analysis and recommends and implements actions to drive safety improvements
- Arranges and/or conducts Annual Compliance Training which includes but is not limited to: HAZMAT, Respirator, Fire Extinguisher, CPR/First Aid, Confined Space, Competent Person, Operator Qualification Program, classroom and hands on evaluation
- Ensures proper use of PPE
- Conducts Safety Training meetings
- Manages the Company's Substance Abuse Prevention program
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience in construction safety and the installation of underground utilities including gas and electric
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of OSHA standards 1910 and 1926
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures
- Certification in safety-related discipline preferred
- Excellent organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Classroom-style training experience
- Current driver's license with a good record over the past 3 years
- Associates degree or higher in related field preferred
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
