Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-minded individual to serve as our Director of Congregational Engagement.
This is a ministry leadership position focused on communication, engagement, hospitality, and storytelling within the life of the congregation.
We believe communication within the church is no longer exclusively clerical support work, but a vital part of ministry growth, digital engagement, discipleship, hospitality, and community connection.
This role blends communication, administration, digital engagement, and congregational hospitality into a proactive ministry-centered position that helps strengthen both internal church life and outward community presence.
The Director of Congregational Engagement will help shape how our congregation communicates, connects, welcomes, and tells the story of God at work within our community.
Position Schedule
- Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–4:30pm
- (with 30-minute lunch)
- Friday: Work-from-home creative and communication development day
(8:00am–4:30pm)This schedule is designed to provide uninterrupted time for planning, design work, storytelling, communication strategy, and digital engagement.
Compensation & Benefits
- $24–27/hour depending on experience
- Two weeks paid vacation
- Designated paid holidays
Accountability & Collaboration
This position reports directly to the Pastor and works collaboratively with staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and a Personnel Team.
Primary Responsibilities
Congregational Communication & Administration
- Prepare weekly worship bulletins/slides, announcements, and communication materials
- Maintain accurate and organized church calendars and records
- Support streamlined office systems and communication flow
- Provide professional and welcoming hospitality to visitors, members, and community guests
- Assist with ministry communication coordination across church leadership teams
Digital Communication & Engagement
- Maintain a consistent and engaging social media presence
- Develop weekly digital engagement and communication strategies
- Increase online visibility and community reach
- Coordinate event promotion timelines and communication campaigns
- Maintain website and church app consistency and updates
- Support livestream communication and engagement
- Create and manage visual storytelling through photography and video
Ministry & Congregational Engagement
- Help strengthen congregational identity and public witness
- Support hospitality and first impressions for visitors and guests
- Assist in creating pathways for discipleship and congregational connection
- Help foster trust and connection within the congregation and wider community
- Participate in storytelling that reflects the mission and ministry of the church
Faith & Ministry Expectations
Because this position is part of the ministry and public witness of the church, applicants should:
- Demonstrate a personal Christian faith and comfort working within the mission and ministry of the church
- Be supportive of the mission, values, and ministry of the ELCA tradition
- Engage collaboratively in the worship life and community of the congregation
- Participate as part of the Worship & Music Team in helping shape worship communication, hospitality, and engagement
