Job Description:
Firewheel Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated First Grade Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong Christian faith, a love for teaching young children, and a desire to create a positive and engaging learning environment. The First Grade Teacher will be responsible for teaching and implementing a Christ-centered curriculum that meets the academic, social, and developmental needs of our students.
Responsibilities:
- Teach and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and incorporate Christian principles. We use Abeka, BJU press, and ACSI for the bible curriculum.
- Create a positive and nurturing classroom environment that fosters a love of learning and encourages student participation.
- Teach foundational skills in phonics, cursive, literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and Bible.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles.
- Assess student progress through observation, documentation, and formal assessments.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for growth.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively and promote positive social interactions among students.
- Integrate Christian values and principles into daily lessons and activities.
- Participate in school events, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the overall educational experience for students.
- Supervise students during various activities, including classroom instruction, lunch, recess, and field trips.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary/ Elementary Education or a related field.
- Eligible to become a certified teacher with ACSI
- Bonus if holds a valid teaching certification in the state of Texas.
- Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to create a positive, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment.
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction.
- A strong and active Christian faith, with a commitment to integrating faith and learning.
- Must be a member in good standing of a Bible-believing church.
- Ability to lift, bend, squat, and stand for extended periods.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of a background check and fingerprinting.
- Adherence to the school's Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct.
