Position Summary
As a Shift Lead, you are responsible for leading the restaurant during your shift. You oversee the flow of service, support every station, coach team members, maintain quality standards, and ensure the restaurant closes clean and ready for the next day.
Most shifts are spent as the Expo, coordinating the kitchen, communicating with the front counter, and making sure every order leaves the kitchen accurately, quickly, and looking its best.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys leading others, and takes pride in building a high-performing team.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead the restaurant during assigned shifts.
- Set the pace and maintain a positive, professional work environment.
- Coach team members in real time while maintaining morale.
- Hold the team accountable to E’s standards and procedures.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Communicate clearly with ownership regarding issues, inventory, staffing, and guest concerns.
- Lead by example through work ethic, attitude, and professionalism.
Expo Responsibilities
- Coordinate ticket flow from start to finish.
- Ensure sandwiches are built correctly and consistently.
- Verify order accuracy before every order leaves the kitchen.
- Monitor ticket times and adjust workflow to keep service moving efficiently.
- Communicate with cooks and cashiers to prevent bottlenecks.
- Maintain food quality, presentation, and portion consistency.
- Resolve mistakes quickly before they reach guests.
Closing Responsibilities
- Lead the closing team and assign responsibilities.
- Ensure all cleaning checklists are completed correctly.
- Verify equipment is cleaned and shut down properly.
- Confirm prep is complete for the following day.
- Ensure all food is labeled, rotated, and stored according to food safety standards.
- Verify cash handling procedures are completed accurately.
- Complete the final walkthrough before locking the building.
- Leave the restaurant cleaner and more organized than it was at the beginning of the shift.
Operations Responsibilities
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ensure all recipes and portions are followed consistently.
- Monitor inventory and communicate items running low.
- Assist with prep, cooking, dishes, cashiering, and cleaning whenever needed.
- Help train new employees.
- Address guest concerns professionally and resolve issues whenever possible.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant experience required.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
