Lead Teacher – 2-Year-Old ClassMethodist Children's Center (MCC) at First Cary UMC
Methodist Children's Center (MCC), the weekday preschool ministry of First Cary UMC, is seeking a Lead Teacher for our 2-year-old class. This position is up to 16 hours per week on Mondays - Thursdays from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
The ideal candidate will work alongside an assistant teacher to provide a nurturing, faith-based environment that fosters children's growth and learning. The successful applicant will be energetic, creative, warm, and nurturing, with the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. This individual should be organized, flexible, and able to multitask while actively engaging with children in the classroom. The Lead Teacher will embrace our play-based, developmentally appropriate philosophy while supporting the mission and vision of our program.

Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching young children preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive classroom community
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teaching partners to develop and lead engaging, play-based learning experiences
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
- Foster children's social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual development
- Create a supportive, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with fellow teachers to enhance the overall preschool experience
- Build positive relationships with children and their families
- Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment
- Assist with diapering and toileting routines while maintaining a safe, clean, and respectful environment
Additional Requirements
- Complete First Aid and CPR certification every two years (paid for by MCC)
- Successfully pass a criminal background check prior to employment
- Submit documentation of a negative TB test prior to employment
Compensation
- Starting at $18 per hour; pay is based on education and experience
Schedule
- Mondays - Thursdays 8:45 a.m.–12:45 p.m.
- Plus 1–2 hours per month for teacher meetings and planning
