SERVER — KOYO HAND ROLL BARJob Overview
KOYO Hand Roll Bar is looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, and reliable Server to join our team.
The ideal candidate is guest-focused, works well in a fast-paced environment, and has a passion for hospitality. As a Server at KOYO, you will guide guests through our unique handroll experience, make food and beverage recommendations, and provide attentive service from the moment they arrive until they leave.
Knowledge of sake and Japanese cuisine is a plus, but we are happy to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and provide friendly, attentive service.
- Introduce first-time guests to the KOYO dining experience.
- Learn and maintain strong knowledge of our menu, including handrolls, crudos, appetizers, sake, Japanese beer, and other beverages.
- Ask about guest preferences and make appropriate food and beverage recommendations.
- Ask guests about food allergies or dietary restrictions and communicate them clearly to the kitchen.
- Take orders accurately and repeat orders back when necessary.
- Enter orders correctly using the Toast POS system.
- Explain the proper way to enjoy our handrolls, including eating them immediately while the nori is fresh and crispy.
- Recommend appetizers, crudos, additional handrolls, sake, and Japanese beer when appropriate.
- Check identification when serving alcohol.
- Check on guests throughout their meal and ensure they are satisfied.
- Keep water and beverages refilled.
- Pre-buss and maintain a clean and organized dining area.
- Process payments accurately and efficiently.
- Work closely with chefs, other servers, and management to provide smooth service.
- Complete opening, closing, cleaning, and assigned side-work duties.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service requirements.
- Maintain a professional, positive attitude, especially during busy periods.
Qualifications
- Previous serving or restaurant experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Friendly, professional, and comfortable interacting with guests.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized.
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Willingness to learn about sushi, handrolls, crudos, sake, and Japanese beer.
- Basic math and payment-handling skills.
- Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcohol.
- TABC and Food Handler certifications required or must be obtained before starting.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
