Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care within our ophthalmology practice. This position involves assisting ophthalmologists with various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth workflow in the medical office, and delivering high-quality service to our patients.
Duties
- Conduct patient intake and gather medical history while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manual Refraction of patients.
- Measure and record visual acuity and intraocular pressure.
- Assist with diagnostic testing and procedures, utilizing aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
- Provide support in the examination room by preparing instruments and equipment for use.
- Maintain accurate medical records in EMR systems, ensuring all information is up-to-date and complete.
- Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as general eye health.
- Collaborate with the front desk team to schedule appointments and manage patient flow efficiently.
- Assist with retail sales of optical products, applying knowledge of retail math to ensure accurate transactions.
- Support clinic operations by performing administrative tasks as needed, including medical coding and billing.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in patient care within an ophthalmology or medical office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology is essential.
- Experience with EMR systems, particularly ModMed, is highly desirable.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while providing excellent customer service.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
