Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in various caregiving settings, including group homes, assisted living, and home health care. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation
- Provide patient care and support in accordance with individualized care plans
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client conditions
- Ensure the cleanliness of living spaces through regular cleaning tasks
- Assist clients in social interactions and community engagement activities
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts for patient mobility when necessary
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement effective care strategies
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification preferred
- Experience working in group homes or assisted living settings
- Strong patient observation skills to monitor health changes effectively
- Knowledge of memory care techniques, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care
- Experience in home & community care, , or long-term care settings
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility assistance
- Familiarity with direct support practices for individuals with disabilities, including autism
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members
- Understanding of caregiving principles and the ability to follow care plans diligently

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $15.25 per hour
