We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with school-aged children (k-12) who are receiving special education services to address gross motor delays and mobility challenges. Your primary focus will be to support the development of functional physical skills, improving students' ability to navigate their school environment safely and independently. You will design and implement individualized treatment plans and fulfill specific IEP mandates under the regulations of the school district.
Key Responsibilities
· Therapeutic Support: Implement physical therapy intervention plans and individualized education plans (IEPs) to improve gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and mobility.
· Data Collection & Reporting: Maintain accurate, timely session notes and progress reports on student milestones as required for district compliance and Medicaid reimbursement.
· Collaboration & Training: Collaborate with teachers, school staff, administrators, and families to assess student needs, adapt classroom environments, and provide training on positioning or adaptive equipment.
· Student Support: Provide direct therapeutic support with empathy and respect, fostering a positive, safe, and encouraging experience for students.
· Confidentiality: Maintain absolute confidentiality and strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations, school policies, and FERPA guidelines in all interactions.
· Professional Development: Engage in ongoing clinical training and professional development to maintain licensure and bring best practices to school-based therapy.
Skills and Qualifications
· Experience: Previous experience working with children in a pediatric or school-based setting, particularly those with developmental disabilities, is highly preferred.
· Technical Knowledge: Strong clinical understanding of pediatric physical therapy principles, gross motor development, and adaptive technology. Familiarity with special education terminology, including IEPs, is required.
· Licensure: Valid New York State License as a Physical Therapist (PT) is required.
· Communication: Excellent communication skills for collaborating with and training school staff, families, and multi-disciplinary team members.
· Data Literacy: Proficient in tracking clinical progress, completing annual reviews, tracking data based on IEP goals, Frontline/IEP direct, and documenting service logs accurately.
