Brook Lodge, the historic Upjohn property in Augusta, Michigan, is undergoing ongoing restoration and preservation. We are seeking experienced, dependable individuals who take pride in hands-on work and want to contribute to the revival of a unique historic site. This is an excellent opportunity for active or retired tradespeople looking for meaningful part-time work in a collaborative, respectful environment.
Position Overview
We are looking for skilled laborers with broad experience in building maintenance and repair, including painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and tile work. The role involves a variety of restoration and upkeep tasks to preserve and improve historic structures on the property.
Key Responsibilities
Interior painting and surface preparation
Basic AC electrical repairs and fixture replacement
Plumbing repairs and fixture maintenance
Carpentry tasks including trim work, door/window repair, and general construction
Tile repair and replacement
Safe and proper use of hand and power tools
General building maintenance and problem solving as needs arise
Working independently or with a small team on restoration projects
Qualifications
Prior experience in one or more of the following trades:
painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, tile, or general maintenance
Skilled using common hand and power tools
Ability to assess problems and perform practical repairs
Reliable, detail-oriented, and respectful of historic materials
Ability to work safely and follow instructions
Retired trades professionals are encouraged to apply
