Under supervision of the Staff Management Auditor (SMA), the Associate Management Auditor (AMA) or Staff Services Management Auditor (SSMA) independently conducts difficult and/or complex operational, compliance, and/or performance audits or reviews of entities participating in the Beverage Container Recycling Program (BCRP) that receive funds from CalRecycle, or other State or local entities and are subject to audit under the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act (Act) in accordance with general audit standards and the Department’s established audit procedures.
The incumbent may be required to independently travel overnight to program sites and events. Incumbent must have and maintain a current valid California driver's license, be able to travel via various means of public transportation methods, including, but not limited to commercial airlines, public shuttles, shared rental cars, etc. and participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Employer Pull Notice Program.
Assignments may require up to 50% travel during the year. Some travel is required throughout California and may include out-of-state assignments and extended overnight stays. Travel modes include, but are not limited to, driving a motor vehicle and using public transportation such as commercial airplanes, trains, ride-shares, or traveling in the same vehicle as other staff. Fieldwork is required in various regions where weather conditions and temperatures vary. Assignments may include unplanned or weekend work, requiring adjustments to the employee’s work schedule.
Beginning July 1, 2026, CalRecycle staff will be office centered, requiring employees to report to the office at least four days per week. This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program needs. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the positions designated headquarter location, as reflected on the duty statement and at their own expense.
