About Us
Fox Hollow Forest School is a joyful, full-time, year round, nature based preschool. Our students are outside for most of the day exploring the trails, streams and fields; learning happens under every rock and down every path.
Assistants Teacher will support our lead teachers in creating a daily nature-based experience for our preschoolers. Assistant Teachers will join all learning activities and may at times lead or supervise large or small groups of students. Assistant Teachers will work with the other teachers to meet the needs of all students as we strive to reach our goal of being a high quality, joyful, nature-based school.
Hours:
- 8 hours around the times of 7:30am - 4:30pm daily, year round
Responsibilities of the Assistant Teacher include
- Support Lead Teachers with activities and instruction
- Maintain records of student progress and needs
- Help keep learning areas and activities safe
- Provide a welcoming, inclusive learning atmosphere for all students
- Support children with special or individual needs
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working as an assistant teacher in a Vermont preschool or child care
- Understanding of the forest school philosophy and programming
- Experience working within nature-based and child-led education and programs
- Training/classes in nature-based, outdoor, or environmental education
- Passion for the outdoors
- Ability to deal with all kinds of weather with a smile
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- $21-$23/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- Paid vacations, holidays, and inclement weather closings during the school year according to the RNESU School Calendar
- 15 paid sick/vacation/personal leave (60 hours/year)
