SUMMARY
The Parts Runner is responsible for the pick-up and delivery of parts, supplies, and vehicles for Fleet Services, also cleaning and re-stock the parts room and fuel island.
This is an hourly position that will work a maximum of 29 hours/week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary function of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
Drives vehicle to transport parts and supplies to and from a variety of locations.
Re-stock and cleans the Parts Room.
Assists the Shop Operations with vehicle shuttle and shop clean-up.
Cleans and performs daily checks on delivery vehicle.
Answers phones and provides general information as needed.
Stocks and cleans fuel island.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is not responsible for the supervision of regular City employees.

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the necessary functions of this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to operate and maintain vehicles and equipment such as snowplow and forklift.
Basic math skills.
Ability to pass pre-employment fit for duty test.
Submit to Pre-employment drug test
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to two years related experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with supervisors, coworkers, customers and citizens.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee would encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
