Vice President of Default
Onsite, Hybrid - 3 days in office - DFW area
The Vice President of Default is a “hands-on” leader responsible for default operations, with a focus on Agency and Government Foreclosure, including post-sale, Claims, and Property Preservation. This role ensures default activities are executed in compliance with federal, state, investor, insurer, and company guidelines, while balancing timelines, quality, risk mitigation, and operational performance. The VP will provide hands-on leadership across key default functions, manage onshore and offshore teams of up to 20 FTE, and coordinate with internal and external partners to drive timely and accurate execution, reduce losses, and protect company interests.
What You Will Do:
· Lead, manage, and develop a team of default associates across onshore and offshore operations to meet departmental goals and service-level agreements.
· Oversee Agency and Government Foreclosure operations, including referral, active foreclosure, post-sale activity, and related default processes.
· Provide oversight of Claims and Property Preservation activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory, investor, insurer, and company requirements.
· Partner with attorneys, trustees, property preservation vendors, claims partners, and third-party vendors to ensure accurate and timely execution of default actions.
· Monitor pipeline performance, timelines, reporting metrics, and operational controls; identify and resolve bottlenecks or issues.
· Review and approve escalated default files, exceptions, and high-risk cases, while remaining hands-on with complex operational issues.
· Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Loss Mitigation, Bankruptcy, REO, Servicing, and other Default departments to ensure seamless handoffs and risk controls.
· Prepare and present operational reports, metrics, and trend analysis to senior leadership.
· Stay current on industry regulations, investor guidelines, insurer requirements, agency timelines, and state foreclosure laws to maintain compliance and mitigate risk.
· Drive process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce losses, strengthen controls, and enhance customer and investor satisfaction.
· Act as a subject matter expert for foreclosure, post-sale, claims, and property preservation audits, examinations, and investor/insurer reviews.
What We’re Looking For:
· 10+ years of experience in mortgage servicing or default servicing, with strong knowledge of Agency and Government Foreclosure required.
· Significant experience with post-sale foreclosure activities, Claims, and Property Preservation required.
· Broad knowledge of Default operations required, with the ability and willingness to be hands-on when needed.
· Experience using Sagent Servicing System / Tempo, Proven Claims, and LPS Invoice Management
· 5+ years of leadership or management experience in a default, foreclosure, claims, property preservation, loss mitigation, or bankruptcy environment.
· The ability to work onsite in our Dallas office, currently observing a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office,
· Experience managing teams of up to 20 FTE, including both onshore and offshore resources.
· Strong knowledge of foreclosure laws, regulations, investor/insurer guidelines, and agency requirements, including FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA.
· Loss Mitigation and Bankruptcy experience a strong plus.
· Proven ability to manage high-volume pipelines and deliver results in a deadline-driven environment.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with attorneys, vendors, agencies, and internal stakeholders.
· Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and act on performance metrics.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Demonstrated success in process improvement, operational controls, and team development.
Pay: $135,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
