The Role
We're looking for an Ocean Export Coordinator to manage the full export process from booking to bill of lading. You'll be the day-to-day point of contact for clients moving ocean freight, coordinating closely with carriers, overseas agents, and internal teams to keep shipments on track and customers informed.
What You'll Do
- Manage the ocean export shipment lifecycle from booking through departure and delivery confirmation
- Prepare and process export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and letters of credit where applicable
- Book cargo with carriers/NVOCCs and negotiate space and rates as needed
- Coordinate with origin warehouses, truckers, and overseas agents to ensure on-time cargo movement
- Ensure compliance with AES filing requirements, Incoterms, and applicable export regulations
- Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates, delays, or issues to clients
- Resolve discrepancies related to documentation, cargo, or billing
- Maintain accurate records in the TMS/forwarding software
- Build strong working relationships with clients, carriers, and internal ops/sales teams
What You Bring
- 2+ years of experience in ocean export coordination within freight forwarding, NVOCC, or logistics
- Working knowledge of AES filing, Incoterms, and export compliance requirements
- Experience with a freight forwarding software/TMS (Magaya preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — client-facing confidence is a must
- Comfortable working in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment
- Bachelor's degree preferred, not required
