Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our vibrant educational community. In this role, you will work closely with lead teachers to support classroom activities, foster a positive learning environment, and assist students with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Support students with disabilities, including those with autism and developmental disabilities, by providing tailored assistance based on individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Facilitate inclusive classroom activities that promote engagement and participation for all students, including those with special needs.
- Help manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques and effective classroom management strategies.
- Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods to support students with communication challenges.
- Assist in developing and adapting instructional materials to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
- Support early childhood development by engaging children in age-appropriate activities that foster growth in literacy, numeracy, social skills, and independence.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
Skills
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
- Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and developmental delays.
- Knowledge of special education laws such as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and familiarity with IEP processes.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques to foster a positive learning atmosphere.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with teachers, parents, and students effectively.
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans tailored to individual student needs, incorporating curriculum standards across subjects like literacy education and math.
- Experience working in preschool or Montessori environments is a plus.
- Compassionate attitude with a commitment to supporting children’s growth in childcare settings or private schools.
