The front desk associate’s main responsibility is to provide an exceptional guest experience while completing Veridea’s sales-related requirements. The successful front desk associate provides guests with concierge-like, solution-oriented service, and acts as an in-house sales representative. In addition, this person serves as a Shuttle Driver, safely, professionally, and reliably transporting hotel guests to and from designated locations and ensuring a comfortable and timely shuttle service experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Acts as a concierge for guests. Possesses a knowledge of the facilities of the hotel, as well as the local area and the community’s offerings to effectively assist guests.
- Interacts with guests in a sincere, professional, and courteous manner, going above and beyond normal responsibilities to do what it takes to ensure absolute guest satisfaction.
- Acts as an in-house sales representative for the hotel. Engages with guests, captures relevant information, and distributes it to hotel management staff for contract negotiation.
- Completes all reporting requirements issued by Veridea Hotel Management Team.
- Utilizes sales techniques to effectively sell the property, maximizing occupancy and avg. rate.
- Register and process guests promptly upon arrival and departure.
- Performs all guest accounting functions according to established hotel operating procedures to ensure all guest and house accounts are complete and accurate.
- Adheres to all established credit and inventory control procedures to minimize exposure to loss of revenue.
- Receives and processes phone & walk-in reservations accurately to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Resolves guest issues, complaints, or problems.
- Professionally and competently operates the phone system according to Veridea standards.
- Acts as team leader on duty in the absence of management staff.
- Understands and applies all hotel safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees and guests.
- Serves as a Shuttle Driver, safely, professionally, and reliably transporting hotel guests to and from designated locations and ensuring a comfortable and timely shuttle service experience (following the Shuttle Driver job description).
- Proactively seeks out other duties and responsibilities to effectively benefit hotel operation.
- Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken; also, provides potential solutions to the problems noticed.
- Proactively looks for opportunities to improve operations.
- Adheres to all company policy and procedures, safety procedures, Health Department, and other regulatory requirements.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Quickly learns front desk technical procedures such as: check-in, check-out, selling skills, computer operation, telephone operations, etc.
- Operates computer or cash register to handle monetary transactions and give correct change.
- Works well on multiple tasks at the same time.
- Possesses strong organizational skills and strong detail orientation.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Subject to company drug, smoking, and alcohol-free standards, and pre-hire, random, and for cause testing.
- Strong knowledge of local area and surrounding routes.
- Reading; ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
- Maintains emotional control under stress.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills. Friendly and cheerful; interacts easily with strangers.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Serves, reacts quickly and adjusts to different guest situations.
- Performs job duties with a minimum of disruption to the guest.
- Works independently with little supervision.
- Physically manipulates equipment such as: cash register, computer, credit card machines, telephone console/switchboard, calculator, etc. Meets job’s physical demands, including ability to drive shuttle; repetitive hand motions, frequent standing, walking, and/or climbing; excellent vision and hearing; lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. frequently during a shift; stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, sitting or standing for long periods of time, working outside and inside.
- Accepts directions and priorities from supervisor and reliably follows-through on tasks.
- Cooperates with and supports others.
- Meets professional appearance, demeanor, and grooming according to Employee Handbook Standards.
REPORTS TO: The Front Desk Associate and Shuttle Driver reports directly to the Front Desk Manager, and AGM or GM on duty in the absence of the Front Desk Manager.
