Cook (30-32 hours/week)
We are seeking a skilled and dependable to join our dynamic, service‑oriented dining services team. This position requires availability on weekends working both morning and evening shifts as scheduled.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to work in the required uniform and on time for all assigned shifts.
- Maintain a working knowledge of sanitation codes and follow all food safety, storage, and kitchen cleanliness standards.
- Ensure proper organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms.
- Assist in guiding and supporting dietary aides/wait staff, dishwashers, and utility aides to ensure excellent resident satisfaction and a high‑quality dining experience. Provide performance feedback to the supervisor when needed.
- Prepare meals according to production sheets and standardized recipes; make substitutions only with supervisor approval.
- Plan cooking schedules to ensure meals are prepared on time without being completed too far in advance.
- Safely operate all kitchen equipment and utensils required for cooking and food preparation.
- Set up food on steam tables, deliver meals to dining areas as scheduled, and ensure all items meet required temperature standards.
- Reserve and prepare modified‑diet items as needed.
- Serve meals politely, efficiently, and according to standardized portion sizes. Support resident preferences by offering appropriate alternatives.
- Keep service lines stocked, fresh, and replenished according to house standards.
- Assist with catered and special events as required.
- Collect meal tickets from guests and employees.
- Interact positively and professionally with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
- Provide direction to dietary aides/wait staff and utility aides; report concerns to the supervisor.
- Lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and carrying as needed.
- Properly store leftovers and clean all kitchen equipment, pots, pans, steam tables, and work areas after each meal period.
- Assist with full kitchen closing duties (cleaning, turning off equipment, securing storage areas, removing trash, locking designated areas).
- Complete cleaning tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Protect and uphold residents’ rights to privacy, confidentiality, and dignity.
- Attend required in‑service trainings.
- Follow all safety procedures and promptly report accidents or injuries.
