Position Summary
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall operation, appearance, and safety of the hotel property. This position performs preventative maintenance, repairs equipment and systems, responds to guest service requests, and helps ensure all hotel facilities meet Fairfield by Marriott and safety standards.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel staff
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, appliances, locks, and other hotel equipment
- Conduct daily property inspections to identify maintenance or safety concerns
- Complete work orders and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist with room renovations, painting, carpentry, and general upkeep projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, and hotel brand standards
- Maintain clean and organized maintenance storage and work areas
- Assist during emergencies including power outages, weather events, or guest incidents
- Support other departments as needed to ensure excellent guest service
Qualifications
- Previous hotel maintenance or building maintenance experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures
- Manual dexterity to use tools and equipment safely
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
