SUMMARY
Will serve as the Prenatal- Age 3 Family Literacy Educator in the classroom and serve as an assistant to the Family Literacy Coordinator. This person will also be providing part-time personal visits for at-risk families (Limited-English proficient families, pregnant or parenting teens, families with low literacy levels, remote and isolated families, etc.) and develop responsive services that meet the specific needs of these targeted groups. At risk families will receive weekly or bi-weekly developmentally appropriate personal visits with parenting lessons and family goal planning in order to meet the needs of the children and families.
The position also maintains accurate program records, participates in professional development and reflective supervision, and collaborates with early childhood programs, partner agencies, and ROE #33 staff to support successful family outcomes. Additionally, the role assists with Family Literacy activities, events, supplies, and program implementation while building positive relationships with families, staff, and community partners.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & CRITICAL SKILLS
- Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public.
- Enforce ROE regulations and policies in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
- Be certified as a Parents as Teachers parent educator
- May be required to perform other tasks as assigned by the Regional Superintendent.

The Regional Office of Education is an intermediate agency between the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts. The Regional Office of Education #33 works with nine districts across the four counties: Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren.
