Job Summary – Pediatric Occupational Therapist (Outpatient)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our outpatient therapy team. In this role, you will evaluate, plan, and implement individualized, play-based interventions to support children in developing the skills necessary for participation in daily activities. You will work with children presenting with developmental delays, sensory processing differences, autism spectrum disorder, and other neurological or physical challenges.
The therapist will collaborate closely with families and caregivers to promote carryover of skills across home, school, and community environments. This position emphasizes a family-centered approach to care, with a focus on improving functional independence, social participation, and overall quality of life. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric evaluations assessing fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-care, and social participation skills.
- Develop and implement individualized, developmentally appropriate treatment plans using play-based and evidence-based interventions.
- Facilitate skill development in areas such as feeding, dressing, grooming, handwriting readiness, and emotional regulation.
- Provide sensory integration-based strategies to support regulation, attention, and participation in daily routines.
- Educate and coach caregivers to support carryover of therapeutic strategies within the home and community environments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., speech therapists, physical therapists, educators) to ensure coordinated care.
- Monitor progress toward goals and adjust treatment plans as needed to support optimal outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with outpatient and pediatric therapy standards.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of pediatric development, including fine motor, sensory processing, and social-emotional skills.
- Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, and sensory processing challenges.
- Ability to implement play-based, child-led, and family-centered therapeutic approaches.
- Strong clinical reasoning skills to develop individualized treatment plans and adapt interventions as needed.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with families and interdisciplinary team members.
- Ability to engage children and maintain motivation through creative and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Knowledge of outpatient documentation standards and goal writing.
Pay: $56.00 - $64.00 per hour
