The Senior Manager, Regional Facility Operations plays a critical leadership role in ensuring our teams have the environments they need to deliver life-saving services to patients and hospitals across the country.

Under limited direction, this position is responsible for the overall maintenance and operations of regionally designated facilities, both leased and owned. The Senior Manager, Regional Facility Operations oversees day-to-day facilities operations and maintenance, including site infrastructure, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, building systems, irrigation, employee relocations, and related functions.
This role leads facilities teams, manages vendor relationships, develops long-term maintenance and capital planning strategies and ensures compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including FDA, AABB, NFPA and local and state building codes, as well as industry best practices. The position plays a key part in maintaining a safe, compliant, and operationally sound environments that directly support Vitalant's life-saving mission.
What to Expect:

Lead and oversee regional facilities operations, ensuring buildings and infrastructure are safe, fully functional, and compliant with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Negotiate contracts and pricing with contractors and third-party vendors; monitor service performance, manage relationships, and ensure services meet or exceed contractual terms.

Serve as the primary Vitalant liaison with regional service providers, including relationship management, spend analysis, and performance evaluation.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and reduce operational risk.

Collaborate with regional leadership to plan for future space needs and support facility expansions, consolidations, and employee relocation efforts.

Analyze data and forecast capital expenditures; participate in annual budget preparation and ensure adherence to approved operating and capital budgets.

Deliver operational and project-related financial forecasts, including identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives, process improvements, and efficiency strategies.

Participate in enterprise strategic planning activities and coordinate initiatives across multiple divisions within a matrixed organizational structure.

Plan, coordinate, and manage facility improvement and capital projects from inception through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Identify opportunities to enhance facility energy efficiency and sustainability; recommend technologies or strategies to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.

Regularly report to senior leadership on facility performance metrics, risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement.

Develop and maintain comprehensive facilities management documentation, including maintenance schedules, vendor contracts, service agreements, compliance records, and project documentation.

Maintain accurate capital asset and equipment inventories, routinely assess asset condition, and establish maintenance and replacement strategies for critical assets.

Ensure current and accurate Facility Condition Assessments (FCA) are maintained for all assigned facilities.

Perform root cause analyses on significant unplanned events; develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and publish and present findings to the national facilities team to drive enterprise-wide learning and risk mitigation.

Knowledge/Education:
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
2. Knowledge of facility mechanical systems (i.e. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc) and
cons1truction processes required.
License / Certification:
1. Valid in-state driver’s license required.
2. IFMA or FMP certification preferred.
3. CoreNet Global membership preferred.
Experience:
6 years of experience in facilities management, construction, asset management,
along with development of real estate strategic plans, financial forecasting and
budgeting required. To Include:
- 2 years of team supervisory experience.
- Experience managing a large facility portfolio of more than 25 facilities
over multiple states preferred.
