Position Summary
We are seeking an organized, proactive, and customer-focused Nurse Scheduler to coordinate home infusion nursing visits and support the delivery of high-quality patient care. The Nurse Scheduler plays a critical role in matching patients with qualified infusion nurses, managing schedules, and ensuring timely nursing coverage for infusion treatments.
This position serves as a key liaison between patients, nurses, pharmacists, referral sources, and clinical staff to ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate home infusion nursing visits for patients receiving IV therapies, biologics, specialty medications, and other infusion treatments.
- Assign nursing visits based on patient needs, nurse availability, geographic location, and clinical competencies.
- Communicate with patients regarding scheduled visits and appointment changes.
- Coordinate nurse coverage for new referrals, ongoing therapy, urgent starts, and schedule adjustments.
- Maintain accurate scheduling records within company software systems.
- Monitor upcoming patient treatment schedules and proactively address staffing needs.
- Collaborate closely with pharmacy, intake, clinical, and operations teams to ensure timely patient care.
- Manage nurse availability, PTO requests, and schedule modifications.
- Contact nurses to cover open visits, emergency visits, and after-hours requirements as needed.
- Ensure all scheduling activities comply with company policies and patient care standards.
- Assist with onboarding and credential tracking for contracted and employed infusion nurses.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, referral partners, and healthcare providers.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of scheduling, healthcare coordination, administrative support, or customer service experience.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- Experience in home infusion, home health, specialty pharmacy, healthcare staffing, or nursing coordination.
- Knowledge of infusion therapy services and nursing scheduling practices.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), scheduling platforms, or healthcare management software.
- Understanding of geographic scheduling and route optimization.
